VEX IQ Team 554

About the Competition

Every year, VEX IQ challenges teams with a brand-new game. These challenges are designed to test creativity, engineering, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. Each season brings new opportunities for students to design, build, and program robots that can perform in unique and exciting ways.

Our Robot

Team 554 is proud to present a brand-new robot design for this year’s challenge. From brainstorming ideas to prototyping and testing, our students work through the full engineering design process. The robot is continually refined to meet the demands of the game, with careful attention to speed, strength, and strategy.

Scrimmages & Competitions

Before heading into the official provincial competitions, Team 554 will participate in several local scrimmages. These scrimmages provide valuable practice, helping students fine-tune their driving skills and improve their robot design under real competition conditions.

At the provincial level, we compete against the best teams across Alberta. Winning teams have the opportunity to represent our province at the VEX Robotics World Championship, where thousands of teams from around the globe gather to showcase their talents.

Team Divisions

VEX IQ teams compete in two stages:

• Elementary School Division
• Middle School Division

This structure ensures that students are matched against peers at similar grade levels, making competitions both fair and engaging.

Coaching & Documentation

Our team is guided by a dedicated coach who helps students learn and apply the engineering process. From brainstorming to building, programming to testing, the coach ensures that every step is carefully documented. This documentation is not only key to excelling in competitions, but it also teaches students valuable skills in organization, communication, and technical writing.

Our Mission

Being part of VEX IQ Team 554 is a challenging and rewarding journey. We aim to build the best robot possible, compete with integrity, and learn from every experience. Our dream is to become the top team in Alberta and to proudly represent our province on the world stage.
